Thirteen Years

scan0003
This photo was taken in May of 1997. Today is our silly, but meaningul dating anniversary. March 14th 1997 was the day we decided to give us a try for the 3rd time. 3rd time's a charm! At this point, I will bashfully admit that I was slap me across the face and I wouldn't feel it, this boy hung the moon-head over heels in love. It's a stupid love. You know the kind. But, I know this kind of love is rare, and it is what got us through the hard times and made us work things out when we wanted to throw in the towel. This boy and I have been through way more than I would ever wish on my worst enemy, but we are still here. And I love him deeply. And he loves me way more than I deserve. Happy 13 Schnook.

my moment in the sun

DSC_4859
I have been trying to acheive sun flare in a photo for so long, and have never had any really success. Yesterday I was getting ready to go out and the sun was blaring into my bathroom in the most beautiful way. I ran to grab the kids to attempt a shot and they would not have anything to do with it. I was so mad, and knew I only had about 5 minutes before the sun went below the trees behind me house, so I ran back upstairs and started taking pictures of myself....in full on model fashion. This made me laugh so hard that I had tears flowing from my eyes and I almost peed in my pants. Then I couldn't get the shot because I was laughing so hard. I love those moments when you make yourself laugh so hard you almost pee in your pants...they happen a lot with me. Anyway- as I pretended to be a model and snapped away and laughed so hard at the rediculousness of the moment that I cried, I kept snapping, and posing, and snapping, and posing. I had so much fun all by myself at my photo shoot. When it was all over, my eyes were so damaged from the sun and the tears that I did not think I got any sun flare looking through the camera screen. I didn't care at the time. I had just had so much fun that it was worth it for that kind of laughter. I moved on with my day, and keopt my little photoshoot to myself. As I went through the pictures this morning, I got to re-live the hystercial, all by myself laughter all over again. Then I saw this picture. Figures that I would be randomly be snapping pictures of MYSELF and get THIS kind of sunflare. Because who, past the age of 25, want to look at pictures of themselves???After some smoothing of my skin and some over all color fix, I actually really like the picture. Especially the memory of snapping my own vogue photo shoot in my bathroom and having so much fun doing it. At least I can entertain myself, and I got a great picture out of it with the most gorgeous and colorful sun rays I've ever seen thru my own lens!
{My mom told me something about pictures that is so true. She said that no woman likes to see pictures of herself past a certain age because you see yourself aging and it upsets you. Angie and I were just talking about this and I couldn't agree more. I avoid being in pictures like the plague now that I see myself getting older. And I know I look young, but it's still strange to wacth yourself age. But she said to think of it this way....you will always look back at that picture years later and see yourself as younger than you currently are and think you looked fantastic! I challenge my photog friends who are always behind the lens to do this very same thing. Do your own photo shoot and post it on your blog! Have some fun! Know that you are beautiful on the inside and out and stop beating yourself up about aging! I'll try to practice what I preach. And remember, you will look back on those photos and think you look awesome someday! }

Here is the original. It's amazing what a little airbrushing of the skin and lighting changes can do to a picture! I made the edited one look kinda 70's because I felt like it.

Baby Day

DSC_4497
Yesterday was highlight of my whole break. I got to hang out with my favorite baby in the whole world....baby Day. Ivey came to visit for a few days and it made my whole year! I am such a baby obssessed person to begin with.....but when you go and add all this baby cuteness, I have no slef control! When I first walked in and saw her at my sister's house, I had to stop and take a few deep breaths from excitement. I brought her this bow as a litle gift, but really for totally selfish motives. i.must.take.pictures.of.baby.day.plus.flower.thingy. I am so pleased with the way the photos turned out! She is so beautiful!!!! I love seeing my cousin, Ivey, as a mom too. She is exactly the kind ofmom I would have expected. Totally loving and joyful and so in love with her girl.

This glazed over look is due to Day's new love for Chick-Fil-A's waffle fries. Day is use to home-made baby food so her body was going through shock at this very moment. I am glad I captured it on camera. She also ate part of a Krispy Kreme donut while she was here visiting. She's been corrupted. She will never be the same now. (I did take all the gunk off her shirt in the final pictures....it is fitting though)

I LOVE the editing in this one. I played with it for a while so I have no idea how I got to this but it's so pink and pretty and vintage looking.

She looks just like my aunt Cassie in this one.

This is her tough look.

Day's beautiful mommy, Ivey, who wanted her very own flower thingy picture. Isn't she lovely? I giggled the whole time I was editing this picture (70's style). I love my family.
Ivey I am so glad you came to visit!!! I can't wait to come visit YOU in February for Day's 1st birthday. Love you guys!!!

a little rain dance

yesterday, in the midst of a late afternoon downour, and thunder, and lightning....i did a rain dance. by myself. in the middle of my street. i did the mc hammer, the roger rabbit, the robot, some mild beyonce, some ballet, and a few of my very own dances that i made up as i went. my sister and brother watched in hysterical laughter from my porch...i think there were tears, along with several concerned neighbors who now possibly think i've gone mad. i wish there were words to describe how it felt to let go of myself like that but i havent found them yet. there is something really stinkin awesome about splashing around and dancing in the pouring down rain. i didn't plan it. i just went out on the porch during a cookout to see the downpour and something inside me made me do it. it suddenly wasn't enough to just watch the rain....i wanted to be in it. i wanted to dance like nobody was watching....so i did. my nephew layton joined me after a while. i bet if i would have stayed out longer there would have been more people to join. maybe i should start a movement for raindancing. i told my sister jokingly that the holy spirit moved me, but i wasn't really joking. it was fabulous. i highly recommend it.
