We read the story The Kissing Hand today in my class. The main character, a racoon named Chester, leaves a note at the end of the book saying he is loose in the school. The kids and I went on a scavenger hunt to find him and ended up back in my classroom with a note from Chester and some cookies. I have such a wild group this year so this ended up being quite a dramatic adventure. They would NOT except that Chester was not still loose inthe school, so we got our favorite custodian, Jack, to go along with the story by helping us hunt for Chester some more. He showed up this afternoon claiming he tried to catch Chester but he ended up failing in his task as Chester got away and jumped back into the book, FOR REAL. The kids LOVE Jack and this was the coolest thing that has ever happened in their 5 years of life. I just love the expression on little L's face. :)
I love this book! So fun that you could get the kids involved in the story!!
