Meet Bella
We are offically adoptive parents as of today. Meet Bella Cordelia, a precious 1 1/2 year old lab/greyhound, previously owned and named by a couple who got divorced and had to give her up for adoption. Now excuse me while I turn into one of those annoying people who thinks their dog is one of their children. I get it now.
I didn't know it was possible to love an animal like I love Bella. Ad we just met. Call me crazy, but it was love at first sight. We've been talking about getting a dog for 9 years now. Eric has begged and pleaded and annoyed the heck out of me for as long as we have been married. We tried being pet owners with Gizmo, but I was just not ready for the heavy responsibility. So when Beth offered to take her, we let her. The subject has come up over and over again for years now, but I have always stood by my firm NO. I claimed I am just not a dog person, and I really believed that with all my heart.
A few of our friends brought their dogs over this year, and it only intensified my family's yearning to have our own. With my kids going through a terrible fighting phase, and the heat rising in our house from all the negative energy, I actually started to believe it may be a good time to consider changing the tune of our currently negative family atmosphere. Even thought the timing is less than perfect with us trying to sell our house, I realized the benefits just may outway the negatives. So with everything else in life......I prayed.
I had a long list of things I would not allow, settle for, or needed in a dog, and somehow.....Eric managed to take that list and find Bella. And after months of searching online, and researching (yet again) about family friendly dogs, Eric and I came to the conclusion that adopting a mut from the shelter was the only was we were willing to go.
Eric showed up at my school today with a look in his eyes.....and I knew. He told me all about Bella, a lab/greyhound mix 1 1/2 year old beauty, whom he had to have. And for the first time, I had a peace about getting a dog and I knew she was the one. So I let him take the kids to play with her, and said it was up to them. If they wanted Bella as bad as he did then he could bring her home. I had 3 hours worth of work to do, and Eric was anxious, so I had to trust in them to make a good choice. Plus, I already knew it was meant to be. God always gives me a peace about things in my core when it's right.
Our prayers were answered. Bella is a DREAM. I love this dog so much already, and we just met. The negative energy that has haunted our home for months has dissappeared, and we now have something that shifted our focus towards the positive. Something sweet, loving, friendly, cuddly, and fun.
Here are a few sides of Bella Cordelia that we have fallen in love with.

Obedient Bella.

Chill Bella.

Playful Bella.

Speedy Bella.

Guard Dog Bella.

Sleepy Bella (my favorite)
She sleeps in our bed without moving an inch all night long. She loves to go for a speedy run....and she is a greyhound, so she RUNS, and she is whipping us into shape faster than our bodies can handle. She is loving, playful, friendly, happy, and snugglier than a new born baby. She has me WHOOPED. How is this possible? Idunno. But I don't care either. :) We are just enjoying her....and all the joy she has brought to our lives. I finally have my third child. :)
Bella looks like such a sweet dog! And she was adopted by such a loving family :) As much as she was meant to be your dog, you were meant to be her owners!!!

ReplyDeleteBella is adorable! It looks like she fits right into the family. I always loved having a dog growing up, and I know my mom loved having the dog for security. Dogs truly are your best friend!!
