The Afterschool Crew
Some days after work are better than others. Sometimes Jack is happy-wants to play-and doen't want to leave school. I literally have to drag him out of the building crying sometimes because he is having such a great time with his friends. It's a huge bonus that I teach Kindergarten because my classroom is stocked with games, toys, activities, technology, puzzles, ect. My students beg me to check them out of ASP and let them play in my classroom with Jack. .........And then some days he walks in at 2:15 from his classroom- crying to leave- and DOES.NOT.STOP. On those days, I have to leave. No matter how much work is piled up on my desk, it isn't going to happen with Jack in that kind of mood. Today was a good day. He did not want to leave. I got a lot done. The Crew of children (this photo is missing 3 kids that normally play in my room after school) played happily and loudly for 2 hours as I worked away and got caught up on my procrastination list. Teachers often walk by....peek in.....and ask "how do you work with all this noisy craziness around you?" I just smile and say, "what noise?" Seriously......I can tune noise out like nobody's business. So on days like today, I come home smiling. I feel caught up at work, my kids are in a good mood, and I get to relax for a minute on my computer and type away. This is my therepy. And it was nice. Now I am off the get started on the 5 o'clock rock. Homework. Dinner. Baths. Books. Stories. Stalling bedtime with more books (Jack). Stalling bedtime with last minute homework she forgot about (Kaitlin). Some more stories. And me falling asleep with Jack fully clothed and getting woken up by Kaitlin whispering....."mommy, can you please tuck me in?" :)
