I asked Jack what he wanted to do for his birthday party, and I wasn't surprised by his answer one bit. He told me he wanted Layton, Camden, and Carsyn to spend the night all night long, have a football cake, and eat ribs, chicken wings, and baked beans. So we granted his wish gladly, and it saved us a ton of money!
And Jack spent 24 hours in bliss. I can't put into words how much this boy loves his cousins. It's the sweetest, simplest, purest kind of love. He begs to spent time with them daily. And when he finally gets to, our whole family reaps the rewards, because he is the happiest kid on earth. Layton took one for the team, and despite the fact that he has become too cool for school these days, he slept over at our house and made his little cousin happy.
The boys ate pancakes for breakfast and spent the day at the park shootin hoops. I'm pretty sure he enjoyed his birthday by the size of the smile on his face, and the contageous excitement in his voice.
Kaitlin was the mother hen the whole night. She is really good at managing a group of kids. I could actually see her teaching someday....or marrying a Duggar and having a whole bunch of kids. Eric and I actually had a relaxing night watching the kids play and laugh hysterically as they playfully threw each other down the stairs. Good times, bad decisions....as Eric would say.

good times, bad decisions. i love that.
